The QuadraStep System® is based on a clinical assessment algorithm which identifies and differentiates the structural and functional aspects of the foot into 6 specific foot 'types'.

Each foot type influences not only the patient's gait but also the conditions and pathologies which may effect them throughout their lives.

The QuadraStep System® approach to dispensing prefabricated functional foot orthoses is easy to use and brings immediate improvement to patient's symptoms.  The 4 steps to selecting a device with the correct features are based on many years of clinical experience and research.  By following the steps, Sole Tx will be able to offer orthotic treatment that will be sensitive to the natural development of the patient's feet and normalize the stresses that create pain and disability.

QuadraStep System® orthoses are manufactured from an injection moulded thermoplastic compound which has a unique combination of strength with a soft edge feel which gives incredible support while maintaining high patient comfort and therefore improving patient compliance.  The devices are a single piece incorporating all of the required postings, recesses and heel cup/sidewall heights to effectively treat the specific foot type diagnosed requiring no additions or top covers.  They can be easily cleaned with disinfectant without any loss of structural integrity.

The QuadraStep System® offers:

  • 6 'foot type' specific designs (Severe Pes Cavus, Mild Pes Planus, Neutral Foot, Moderate Pes Planus, Abductovarus Forefoot, Severe Pes Planovalgus)

  • Simple colour specific design selection

  • Immediate patient results

  • Durable hygienic construction

Foot Care Related Questions, Answered for You

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Sole Tx Help Center. For your convenience, we’ve put together a list of some common questions and answers. Perhaps you have the same question that was on somebody else’s mind. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Drop us a line and we will be happy to find the answer for you.

What do I do if I suffer from one of these common foot conditions?

Review below or continue to our Foot & Ankle Conditions page to read further details about these foot conditions or contact us now to see if Sole Tx can help alleviate your foot pain.

  • Plantar Fasciitis:    Plantar Fasciitis is a condition wherein the plantar fascia is pulling on the periosteum at the calcaneus therefore causing inflammation, pain and tenderness on the bottom of the foot.  The tenderness is usually toward the heel but the entire sole of the foot can be affected.  A sign of abnormal tension or tightness that can lead to Plantar Fasciitis is a bony prominence (heel spur) that develops when the inflamed plantar fascia attaches to the heel bone (calcaneus).  Plantar Fasciitis can make walking and running difficult.  It can make the foot feel particularly stiff and sensitive in the morning or when rising after sitting. Plantar fasciitis makes it difficult to walk barefoot on hard surfaces.  Sometimes the bottom of the foot can feel warm, swollen, and tender.

  • Bunion:  A Bunion is a medial deviation and inflammation of the Metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint of the big toe.  It's also known as Hallux Valgus.  It's an unnatural bump on the side of of the foot at the base of the big toe.  The tissue surrounding bunions often becomes painful and inflamed.

  • Achilles Tendonitis: Achilles Tendonitis is a condition wherein the Achilles tendon, at or near its insertion to the posterior aspect of the calcaneus, becomes inflamed and causes pain.  An inflamed or tight Achilles can change how stress is distributed throughout your foot and can lead to increased pressure and pain in the ball of the foot.

  • Chondromalacia Patella:  Also known as Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, Chondomalacia Patella is a painful, degenerative cartilage condition that rubs against the medial femoral condyle.

  • Hammer Toes:  Hammer Toe is a condition wherein there is contracture of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joint (PIP) usually in the second toe, but sometimes the third toe.  A Hammer Toe is a toe that is bent because of a muscle imbalance around the toe joints.  The imbalance causes the toe to bend at one or more joints, pushing the middle of the toe upward in a claw-like position.

  • Shin Splints:  A shin splint is a condition wherein the periosteum of the tibia is damaged when it is pulled away by an overstressed tibialis posterior muscle.

  • Corns:  A Corn is an area of thickened skin tissue on the top of the toes or in between the toes due to irritation and friction from a bony prominence.

  • Calluses:  A Callus is an area of thickened skin tissue on the bottom of the foot due to irritation.

  • Morton's Neuroma: Morton's Neuroma is characterized by pain located in the third inter-space.  It is a benign but painful growth of fibrous tissue.  The growth arises in the nerve cells and most often occurs between the third and fourth metatarsals.

  • Ilio Tibial Band Syndrome:  Ilio Tibial Band "friction syndrome" is a condition wherein the Ilio Tibial Band is stretched and torqued and the distal end rubs across the lateral condyle of the femur.

  • Dropped Metatarsal Head:  A Dropped Metatarsal Head is a condition where one of the metatarsal bones is lower than the others at the distal end.

  • Metatarsalgia:  Simply put, it generalized pain underneath the metatarsals.  It is a term most often used to describe ball of foot pain.  Other symptoms can include:  Pain in your toes can be described as aching, sharp or burning, increased pain when walking, running, standing for going barefoot, numbness or tingling in your toes and feeling as though there's a pebble in your shoe.

  • Piriformis Syndrome:  Piriformis Syndrome is a condition in which the piriformis muscle irritates the sciatic nerve.

  • Gout in the Feet:  Gout is characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, redness and tenderness in joints, often the joint at the base of the big toe.  It is a complex form of arthritis.

  • Diabetic Neuropathy:  Diabetic Neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that can occur if you have diabetes.  High blood sugar (glucose) can injure nerve fibers throughout your body, but Diabetic Neuropathy most often damages nerves in your legs and feet.  Depending on the affected nerves, symptoms of Diabetic Neuropathy can range from pain and numbness in your extremities to problems with your digestive system, urinary tract, blood vessels and heart.  For some people, these symptoms are mild; for others, Diabetic Neuropathy can be painful, disabling and even fatal.  Diabetic Neuropathy is a common serious complication of diabetes.  Yet you can often prevent it or slow its progress with tight blood sugar control or healthy lifestyle.
